All the time......................
put down the electronic gizmo's, turn off the headset, enjoy the views and just ride.......
Now what was your question?
(turn right at the top of Via Del Monte and continue up Granvia Alta Mira to the 7-11. Cross Hawthorne and continue until you can turn right onto Highridge Road. Highridge road takes you to the top of the Peninsula.................Now do this a couple of times and report back to us whether it was a good climb)

+1,000,000! :D
Via del Monte is a fun climb... and an even better descent! I often use it at the beginning and/or end of my training loop: Happytime's PV Loop (http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Longer-Harder-PV-Loop). (I modify this route sometimes, returning from PVE via PVSouth/Hawthorne instead of PVNorth, just so I can bomb down Del Monte) :D
BTW... nice seeing you last week, Eric!

You were up early! You must have been up and back from Crest by the time we saw you. I flatted coming down Crest at PVDE. Tiny little piece of glass, slow leak. Repumped and changed the tire at the bottom of PVDE, that drinking fountain with the mathematical PI shaped supports. A bike frame hangs very nicely over those supports and they are rubberized too!
Hi,
That is the standard last climb for our club ride to PV. I've been riding up it since the early 1980s and it hasn't changed one bit. It's long enough and steep enough that it's considered a tough climb by us flatlanders in Long Beach. ;)

Happytime's PV Loop (http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Longer-Harder-PV-Loop).
Thanks for the route. I need to start checking things out down there when we go visit my mother-in-law. Some nice roads down there.
I used to climb Crenshaw all the time on my mountain bike to access Del Cerro when I lived in Torrance. That is a good climb. I preferred to go down Hawthorne though. I got sketched out by the rain grooves on Crenshsaw even on my mtb. I also like the short but very steep Via Valmonte. Access it off of Hawthorne on the north side one light south of Newton.

Scootcore, Ronjon and I took Via del Monte this morning and it was the first time for both of them. Perhaps they can give a good "first impression" desciption. :D
Great ride this morning, guys, I had a blast! :D Welcome to my House of Pain.
(Perfect time, too, as I got back early enough to get to work.)

I like those hills, just enough grade to remind you you're alive, but not so much your knees are ripped apart cranking at 30rpm. I'll be back. :)
