Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. You know that wish thread a few days ago? My new wish is to have been able to see Parliament live in concert:

Amazing.
Edit: Ok, two wishes... seeing Sun Ra live would have been awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsKDbuCsTkk&mode=related&search=
Bump, because I can't believe so few people saw this the first time around ;)

Did'nt Sun Ra think he was from Jupiter?
God damn, get off your ass and dance! :D
How'd I miss this first go?

Rings of Saturn, I think. But yeah, that general area :D
Loopiness aside, he was a fantastic musician... I don't think he's given enough credit!

My thoughts exactly :D
Did not see this the first time. That could be the best music video ever, but it just needs somthing to push it over the edge. I think I know what that is.
MORE COWBELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't deal w/ Sun Ra. That sits just a bit too close to the discordant jazz set me on edge. Throw in a couple of angry Tom Cats to bring the sound together.

I got a D in Jr. High Concert Band for playing like that.

Fair enough... the song he plays in that video isn't one of my favourites, but I love the interview he gives at the beginning, and when the whole band comes together at the end it's sort of hypnotic. Sun Ra's first album (Jazz in Silhouette) isn't discordant at all... it's actually pretty traditional jazz (released in 1957), but with a few Sun Ra-ish elements. Very cool.
For sure, I liked the interview.

I'm feeling that there's some sort of joke here involving the rings of Saturn, jsharr and Explody Pup, but I can't quite place it. Time for bed.
About four years ago I brought my then eight year old son to see George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars!
Needless to say, he was awestruck. :D
i've seen them more than once... it's an o.k. show. i'm sure it was much better "back in the day" - before the band got totally fried and before the audience mostly sobered up...
i'm just glad i got to see Johnny Cash with June Carter Cash and the Statler Brothers...
of course, that was "back in the day," sort of.

You need to move one planet out to find the joke.
You're talking about the rings around Uranus? ;
Sure, why not, they are spectacular, are they not?
But there's just a black hole in the middle.
