I want to know who invented the racing handle bars. When they were invented. What is the primary advantage of using racing handle bars?

i don't know when they're invented or by who but some of the advantages of it i can think of are, aero dynamic position for the rider, a lot of options for hand positions, and it allows the rider to put more weight on the arms and hands reducing butt soreness in long rides...

The bars are at least a century old, probably 19th c. invention judging from
old posters I have seen from the early era of the 'safety bicycle'. Steve

What type of handlebars are you referring to?
The earliest "racing" bars were simply flipped-over "priest" bars. Later, the typical "maes" style became popular I believe in the late 20's. More recently, there are special bars for TT's, and of course, there is the perennial favorite for the cyclocross crowd, the "bullhorn" bar.
