Slow response time, duplicate or triplicate posts because the server is F'ed. Threads load either very quickly or not at all.

Brian - are you sure your new puppy isn't pulling the plug when you aren't looking...

I dispatched an email to the head techno-weenie.
the techno-weenie needs a little more than an email, he needs a severe beat down

He didn't break it, as far as I know. He just needs to fix it.

Oh, a puppy's involved? Never mind.
But, seriously, it regularly -as a matter of course- takes a minute to a minute and a half between clicks.
Sure, rarely, response is good but mostly by the time I get to what I clicked on I forgot why I went there.
In fact, it took over 40 seconds for me to get to this reply page.
So, I'm out of here for a while until this gets squared away.
There's no fun in waiting.
I've heard from our tech, but have not gotten any feedback on the slowing issues. :(
Same here -- pitifully slow.

For me, this has been going on for a couple weeks. It used to work great; now everything takes an age to load.

I was using Firefox and couldn't even scroll down to the latest threads of a topic. Plus, with Firefox, the ads on the side did not show. I tried MSN Explorer and no problem with the site. It had been working with Firefox previously, only started acting up today, so don't know what happened. No problem with any other sites, so don't think it's my computer.
Sometimes I get a fast page load, but usually a refresh is very slow...new posts are even slower...

Four tries over a 5 minute span to get past this:
"The requested URL could not be retrieved
While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=199
The following error was encountered:

Yes, things here are seriously messed up.

Hello,
We do apologize for the inconvenience, we have just completed the maintenance which should resolve the issues you have been receiving with the sites overall lack of performance.
To clarify besides the slowness the only other issue was on the 14th was when we rebooted the database servers for a new optimized kernel.
At this time we have investigated and resolved the issues and everything should be working fine and we will ensure it stays this way.
Thank you kind sir.
Brian
