Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - server problems, can't scroll to bottom to post

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

When I try to read the messages in various posts, I see this:
Brian<img src="blue.gif" border="

or weird things like that, and can't scroll farther down to add a comment.

Not having problems with speed (mines always slow), but actually being able to read all the replies within a post. A grey box appears, then no ability to scroll farther down the page. Anyone else see this?

Try refreshing the screen. That seems to work with Firefox and IE both.

Still, it shouldn't be happening, correct? And I haven't had that kind of problem...so what's causing it?

I'm having the same problem at home, can't scroll down, can't post anything, anywhere. Here at work today it's fine. I have heard from friends that they are having the same problem.

I think you're just looking at a slow server. You browser doesn't receive the entire page in one chunk, so if the server gets busy in the middle of the page download, you get half a page and odd behaviour.

This site is starting to get very marginal in terms of performance. Sometimes it's Okay, but often it's borderline unuseable.

Hello,

We do apologize for the inconvenience, we have just completed the maintenance which should resolve the issues you have been receiving with the sites overall lack of performance.

To clarify besides the slowness the only other issue was on the 14th was when we rebooted the database servers for a new optimized kernel.

At this time we have investigated and resolved the issues and everything should be working fine and we will ensure it stays this way.

Thanks for the update and your hard work. I know running these sites is no picnic. FWIIW, it's running quite well at the moment.

Just a quick update, you may have noticed a quick database restart there while we applied some other changes.

Glad the problem is being worked on. I was still seeing the same thing this morning. Refreshing doesn't make it go away for me. Gremlins in the forum? It seems to be working better this evening. Thanks HostGeekZ!
