Foo - Lodi does Seattle and Portland and NorCal!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Well, Lodi finally made it in to Seattle area. East Hill, Mr. East Hill Lodi and I met for breakfast this morning. Mr and Mrs East Hill are now off to the Puyallup Fair and Lodi is off to scoot about Seattle.
I only have this one picture (could have sworn I had taken at least a few, but I guess not). And of course it is the one pic I was making a funny face in. Later East Hill should be able to chime in and post her pics (she took more than anybody).

I'm not sure, but I think it may be sooner. He's leaving here tomorrow and heading down that way. Unless he's making more stops between here and there (which is quite possible, I don't know his itinerary), then he'll probably be there sooner than that.

Well, by the time we got to Puyallup the traffic was soooo backed up we decided to go early tomorrow instead! So, here's my contribution:
We met at famous Lil John's restaurant, in Bellevue, WA, in the shadow of the Temple:

We spotted these two outside--the place was packed!

Gotta get Mr. East Hill in there too!

We had a great time meeting these two gentlemen--those of you in the lineup to meet Lodi will undoubtedly enjoy the experience :) . It was nice finally meeting up with KT, too!
Unfortunately, CliftonGK1 was not able to join us--perhaps next time...

I love the picture of the Seatle temple spire poking through the trees!!! One of the 20 I've actually seen in my lifetime.

I deliberated posting it, and then thought that you might enjoy seeing it :) .
We almost got stuck going in--we made the turn into the Temple's street and didn't realise that we were going to be trapped in there by the steady stream of traffic!

We did mention that there were hills, right :p ? You weren't even in one of the steeper bits, either ;) .

I was thinking we could get spray tans and zucinni facials, and then hold hands on the beach while the sun goes down. But that's just me. Plus I hear there's this cool pizza place in the Castro that is to die for!!!
edit: Thanks East Hill!! I very much appreciated it. I love pictures of the temples. :D

Um Jon? You talking about your girlfriend or Lodi?
I have an idea!! How about Chinatown? And then we can take him to Broadway or your beloved Castro. Show him what the Citay is really all about!! :D
And there is no way I'm taking him to the zoo. Our zoo isn't going to impress him after his visit with April.
Oh and Lodi? I requested and got Saturday off! ;)
I'm glad you were able to meet my sweet brother. I just wish that I can finally see him in person as well. :(
And East Hill? It's nice to finally place a face with your name (and to see Mr. East Hill) :) Did you get a shot of the four of you together?

Unfortunately, no...it was hard enough roping Mr. East Hill into the one photo. I don't think he would have stood still long enough to get all four of us in :p .

Hey, looks like you had fun. Any sign of KT's hideously charming commuter?

No, darn it! Remember, KT's been off the bike for a while due to his bad back. I did spot Lodi's MTB on the back of his vehicle but did not get a photo of it...not quick enough for my husband's driving :p .

Dang, I've been out of touch. I didn't know KT had a bad back! Sorry to hear that :(

I hurt it somehow about a month ago and have been off the bike. I'm in Physical Therapy now to try to figure out what it is and get back on the bike. I think it is a combination of bad ergonomics at work and the switch to those new handlebars.

That's too bad. Hope it gets better soon! I'm surprised the new handlebars are causing more back pain... isn't that the sort of thing they're supposed to relieve?

it's funny because the bars "felt" great...I think they were just a catalyst and the bad work posture is the real culprit. At least after talking with PT, that's what I think. I'm going to see a "real expert" bike fit guy who is also a PT (so ins. will pay for it. :) ) who will help me sort it out properly. Hopefully I'll be back on in a week or two.
What are these new Bars O' Death, praytell?

Standard trekking style bars. I'm starting to think the bars are probably going to be ok if I just get proper position.

Hey is there a separate thread for planning these festivities?
My next weekend is jam packed so I need to find out when I can fit in this meet up.
I have my friend/co-worker's wedding on Saturday and the parish festival is Fri/Sat and Sunday.

Thanks to Lodi, I got to take an extra long lunch at work today. :D He made it to Powell's and he even got a well-balanced, nutritious meal, which is apparently something he's been lacking on the road. We walked around downtown, he got to see bikes (yea bikes!), and the waterfront park that used to be a freeway. (ripped that sucker right out! :D) After checking the ODOT website to make sure 101 was clear the whole way down, he went on his merry way towards the Oregon Coast. He'll take the long, scenic route into Cali. Hopefully, he will also encounter better food. You NorCal folks are in for a real treat. :) He took lots more pictures, but here he is in my office.

I should have taken 101 instead of dumb ol' 5. (Note to non-West-Coasterners: Interstate 5 goes north-south pretty much from Canada to Mexico, and most of it is boooorrrrriiiiing.)

so, I can finally get on BF! Donna was an absolute sweetheart! She has more information about Portland than a Brochure! She took me around the city and explained everything, I had a great time! The city is beautiful. I made it about half way down the coast before it got dark on me ( I think) I just got up actually, and am now on my way for some more PCH driving! Pics are up from yesterdays romp in Portland and drive down the coast. Hope your all well, and thanks again Donna, your the best!!!!!

I-80 is east-west, south of the I-90/96 east-west run.
I-5 is north-south, east of the Hwy-101.

Lodi is coming to NorCal on Friday, Sat Sun THIS WEEK - 21, 22, 23. Jon and I are able to see him on Saturday. Anyone is welcome to come. We were going to take him to Chinatown to get some real Chinese treats and let him experience the sights and smells (yicks!) and see a little bit of culture. Not sure of the time, he is supposed to call me when he arrives on Friday.

I just entered crescent city. I'll be staying the night here, and doing the drive through the redwoods tomorrow. Then back on the PCH till I get to siu and jon and whoever else. So, if anyones near crescent city, drop me a line. I'll be taking a short drive up throught the jedediah smith redwoods in about 15 minutes, but other than that, i'm around.....

I-5 is north-south, east of the Hwy-101.Yeah, she was correcting me. In my post above, I went on and on about I-80 when I meant I-5. I are dum. (Hey, both of them pass within a mile or so of me, I hear about them a lot. :p)
I see y'all chickened out on ZooBomb. Too bad as there was free beer to be had last Sunday night!
We're going to find Lodi a life partner in the castro. Wish us luck!!!
I'm bringing my rainbow cape for him. In the castro, wearing a rainbow cape is akin to saying "Open for business!!!".
