Road Cycling - A little expensive?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I always keep an eye on ebay for possible bikes and came across this one. As far as I know new ones only cost something like half of that price dont they?5900 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3621697532&category=7298)

The advertised retail for an '03 Trek 5900 is $4,729.99 according to the company website.
I don't care if the saddle came drenched in Lance Armstrong's personal sweat, paying $12,100 for any bicycle is just flat crackers.
But then, I'm a devout cheapskate.

That auction is so obviously a scam, and I'm assuming that the high bidder is "stinkbidding" the auction. Some of the people over at RBR forums do this for entertainment. I doubt that a scammer would complain, so I might just go there and bid it up even higher. Who knows, maybe it'll crack the $25k barrier?
