Foo - Need to vent....

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Looks like I'm being tested once again.
My father-in-law passed away unexpectedly last Monday. I had to help make arrangements and clean his house all last week plus try to console my wife and her family. The funeral was on Thursday.
On Friday I had to head out of town for work and worked 38 hours over the weekend (Friday - Sunday). Now I have to work my regular job plus work with our family business pretty much every evening for the next five or six weeks since my mom had knee surgery and is out of commision for a few weeks. I also have to work the next five weekends. I will be averaging 75 - 85 hours of work a week. During this time I also have to find time to help my wife and her brother and sister prepare their dad's house to sell.
I will be lucky to find two hours a week to ride for the next six weeks. I haven't been on the bike in over a week and I haven't even been able to think about building the two new bikes I have setting in my home. I am already exhausted and I am just getting started.
Oh yeah, you should see my in box, my e-mails, and my list of voice mails from missing work the past week.
Okay....I feel better now.....well, not really but it sounds good at least. ;)
Sometimes you just have to put 'you' on the back burner. Your family needs you now, it's time to step up. You can do it.

Just keep pedalling - it's gonna get better. Good luck with your load;)
I can appreciate getting your riding time "squeezed" by family and work. I'm not riding again this morning for the very same reason. It sucks. I can't remember a ride where I wasn't looking at my computer to figure out what time it was and when i needed to be back.
I am starting to long for the ride that starts and never stops.
That's a full plate Lowcel, I hope it settles out for you soon. Sounds like you're handling things so far, soon you'll look back at this time and wonder what makes you so tough, then you can feel good about yourself and go for a long ride, and take a long nap. Your family is fortunate to have you there.
When it gets too much the extended lunch break can be very therapeutic :) Good luck - we have faith in ya!

Sometimes you're the winshield, and sometimes your the bug.
Sometimes you're the Louisville slugger and sometimes your the ball.
Hang in there, LowCel. It'll come back together before too long.

I hear ya brother...I could recite lots of motivational nonsense or just let you sob uncontrollably on my shoulder...but I think the best I can do for you is to have you look down and read that black band on your wrist - HTFU! ;)

I'm just saying (http://bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=344065)
Hang in there...
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the kind words.
Chipcom, that advice may work for me but I assure you I don't have the kahunas to say that to my wife right now. ;)

Hey LowCel. Hang in there and try to do things one at a time. I know multitasking is one of your strong points but focus on things one at a time. The cycling can wait (or can it?!?).
Do you think you can take a day or two extra off from work? My work allows us to take 3 paid days off for funeral leave for a family member. Hopefully they will understand that you need to take care of things at home.
You'll be okay. Don't forget to ask for help if you can from other family members as well.
I'm sorry for you loss and I hope your mom is healing okay. Lots of hugs sent your way ((hugs))

or sometimes your the dog, sometimes your the hydrant. Keep your head up. The thing that gets me through the hard times is knowing no matter what, the sun will rise and the sun will set. Meaning theres an end to every bad day.......

If you had the cajones before, you wouldn't afterwards! Hang in there. At the risk of sounding sappy, this reminds me of a line from a song by a local Celtic group called Blackthorn: "Diamonds must start out as coal."

Thank ya. I was off for three days with my wife and her family after the death and for the funeral. My work is very understanding about things. I have around ten weeks of sick leave and about five weeks of vacation time so leave time really wasn't the problem. What sucks about taking time off is that no one here knows how to do my job so it all just stacks up. It's really not even enjoyable to take a vacation anymore knowing what my desk, inbox, e-mails and voice mails will be like when I return.
Today my mom got the okay from the doctor to walk around on a cane for a few days. She will be on that part time for a few weeks then she should be back to normal.

I'm taking a break from work for a few minutes to post. No time to get a ride in. I am going to try to get a short ride in tonight though. Nothing better than the first ride on a new bike! :D
This thing is begging to be ridden.

Some guyz got more time than money, looks like you might have it the other way. :D

Actually, for some reason I'm about even between the two. I have no time but I don't have any money either so it works it's self out. ;)
On a side note, I'm in the process of building up two more bikes as well. A new Titus Motolite II and a Fuji Team Issue. The Team Issue is a warranty replacement so it doesn't really count. I'm hoping to order a new track bike in the next month or so as well. ;)
Here is the new Team Issue. I'm waiting for a new fork for it before I build it up. That should be here tomorrow. I'm hoping to find time to build it up in the next month or so. :o

Here is the new Motolite II. I would love to have it built up this week but I'm not counting on it.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b148/LowCel/SL1complete.jpgDang, if you could get all of the logos and decals off of that thing, it would be one big stealthy pile of awesome. Probably shave a few grams, too. ;)

In WV it pays to look like a Nascar race car when out riding. Helps keep the rednecks at bay. ;)
Yeah, but in stealth black, they wouldn't even see you until you blew past them. :)
