I have a very short framed triplet which tapers down from the captain to the rear. My child sits in the middle and my adult stoker on the back. Her seatpost is a 27.2 410mm. Its almost up to the max. I want to be able to ride with taller riders every once in a while (ie. family, other fast riders in my group).
As such I am needing to get a really tall seatpost, probably 500mm.

I know that the comotion telescoping thing would probably work, but I think it might be a larger diameter. Also, I don't really want to shell out $100 for it.

Does anyone know of a source to get what I'm looking for.

Lastly, you might be thinking, why not trade stoker positions, the seattube is taller in the middle and would accomodate a taller rider. This is correct, however, we want to leave the little one in the middle because there are lots of times when it is only the two of us on the triplet. And it would be a real pain switch back and forth all the time.

Thank you very much.

Hmmm... a quick google search revealed nothing. However I think it would be worth finding out with some other google searches what size seat post Brompton, Birdy, Bike Friday and Dahon folding bikes use as they are very long. I think though most are bigger than 27.2mm. Alternatively there are unicycle seatposts, but the problem here looks that the saddle attachment isn't the same as a road bike saddle.

Have a hunt around with google and see what comes up. You could be lucky.

I think you're approaching the limit of what's safe for an adult weight with a 27.2mm tube. Anyway: my favorite place to search for such things found a 420mm rigid and a 450mm suspension post.

A seat with "Taller" rails like a Brooks or many downhil type seats, will provide you as much as 20MM more height.

Syncors use to make a really strong seatpost on a 425mm version, but they are dificult to find this days (Syncros is own by ritchey now and the new stuff sucks.)

IRD use to make a 450mm in the early 90', but then again if you find one will be at least $70

ps: I have the two of them for years and they are incredibly strong.
