On Saturday I completed the Misaligned Minds Century ride (Paducah, Ky). I was well prepared, hills not as frequent, long or as steep as where I usually ride. Great support, scenery mostly just fields. Good roads, few cars, one stop light. 102 miles/6hr 10min/16.5 MPH. Less than 100 riders did the century, I rode alone the last 65 miles. (no I was not the last one to finish!)
That's good, way to go. This summer I rode a century also. It was 27 years since my last one, that doesn't touch your 61 though. Don't wait so long for the next one.

1st one in 61 years, eh?
So you were about 18 then and are 79 now???

Congrats. Nice job on the century. I'm envious of any 100+ mile ride with only one traffic light. I've never thought about cycling in Kentucky, but maybe I should reconsider.
Small centuries are loney rides indeed. I sometimes do the Kern Wheel Spooktacular (Bakersfield, CA) - it doesn't have many riders either (300 - 500)- and it has alot of different routes, none of which cross each other. 3 years ago I did the Horrible 100 (there is a Hideous as well) and did the first 78 miles basically by myself. I ran into some people at the lunch stop and then had someone ride in with me that last 15 miles. Considering it's out in the absolutely middle of nowhere, it was a lonely ride indeed. If a sag wagon came by I would have stopped...
...so congrats on your ride. All the more difficult as it was small and lonely. I like busy centuries where there is always some one to chase!
Congratulations on a great ride..

Great job on the century ride! That's a really nice average speed for a 100 miles.
Congratulations.

Yes it was the first. I have moderatate to severe RA and so it could be my last. Hope not though, with the combo of methotrexate and Humira my RA is practically in remission.

Whew,
When I read the headline I thought that it took you 61 years to complete a century from start to finish. ;) That would be more than my patience would take.
