I also love reading such stories.
I hope you do not mind a little warning based on what happened when I did the same with the wrong guy:

I did exactly the same as you including the drafting. That guy also could not drop me. So he slammed on the brakes without warning. I missed hitting him by very little margin.
Now these days I no longer draft unless I get permission.

Always I good idea to announce yourself. I was riding the other day passed someone and went on my way. Farther up the rode I got a bug in mouth and turned my head and spit. The guy was drafting me and I missed spitting on him by a hair. Now he may have thought I did that on purpose.
