Road Cycling - 2 Questions from a Newbie

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I was wondering if anyone might have an opinion on the Douglas Vector at the Colorado Cyclist site:

Also, if you had less than 2K to spend, would you buy new or used?
Thanks,
Jeff

I was in your same boat last month I went with new so I could get the warranty with no problems if something happened to the frame. I was going to get this bike http://www.coloradocyclist.com/common/products/productdisplay2_v2.cfm?PRRFNBR=29412&CGRFNBR=273&CRPCGNBR=273&CI=1,223,273&TextMode=0 but decided on the Giant TCR 1 Carbon. Still under the $2k limit but titanium with ultegra.

I don't know anyone who rides a Douglas. However, one test of how good a bike is to check the warranty on the frame. The Douglas is 2 years. That tells me that while you get a good component set, they scrimp on the frame.
Had I $2000 to spend, I would get a new bike, a Cannondale R1000 or a LeMond Zurich. Or I might save a few more months and get the Trek 5200. Frame warranties are lifetime.
There are many great bikes in your price range and with each you will get mostly, if not full Ultrega components. The choice comes down to feel and even color scheme.
