A couple months ago, the family went on vacation with the kids' bikes. I forgot one set of pedals (I take them off to pack the bikes more easily) so I had to buy a pair. Did you know that kids pedal axles are a little smaller than adult ones ? Neither did I.

Fast forward to yesterday. I get my ebike back together. (The battery pack keeps losing solder joints.) I look around for some pedals. I just know I have some lying around. Every new bike comes with those junky pedals and I know I wouldn't have thrown them away. Ah, here are some on a table. I'll use those.

Today, *on the way home* from a 41m round-trip commute, one pedal starts acting funny. It a little kiltered. I finally realize that I put in the kids pedals and it doesn't want to stay. Oh well. Hope it makes it all the way home.

Nope. Not even half way home, the pedal just falls out. I'm sure I've ruined the threads in my crank. What to do ? Why, just put my feet up, turn the throttle and enjoy the ride, of course.

...except for the fact that my jersey was sweaty from the first half of the way home, and was now just wet and cold, and the sun was going down, and it was getting colder. Oh well. Better than walking.

Go NiMH power!
