Okay, maybe I should be able to figure this out but I don't want to exert the effort. I know that the star indicates a paying member/supporter of the site. Why are some user names in black and some in red?

Yep. I'm Black. Black means you are off line and red means you are on. Red stars mean you donated to BF, Blue stars mean moderators or admins.

Most people here have white stars. ;)

You can be black but on-line, it's stealth. I'm nevar red. I'm sneaky that way. :p

I suggested that a long time ago :p .

I think he would be too modest (I assume it could be done without much of a problem if someone really wanted to) to accept it. Just another reason why he's a great guy and a considerable asset to this board.
