I'll be out in the Gettysburg/Hanover, PA, area in mid-October, for the BCP Fall Foliage Weekend (http://www.phillybikeclub.org/fallweekend/FFW_07_Main.html). Because this is beyond my usual event-travel ambit, I'm not familiar with the area as a cycling venue, so I'd appreciate it if someone would characterize the road riding and terrain for me. Thanks.
Its hillier than you would think, my GPS tracked over 1800 feet riding the 26 mile battlefield tour loop. No major climbs, just lots of ups and downs. It is a beautiful ride, though, and the region is gorgeous! Just watch for ghosts :)

I've cycled around the battlefield a couple of times and last year I did the Civil War Century ride that went from Maryland up to Gettysburg and back. If you can handle the hills in Bucks County you won't find anything in the Gettysburg/Hanover area that will stop you, or probably even slow you down.

Grew up in Gettysburg and the battlefield is a great ride! Especially around the Round Tops. I wouldn't worry about ghosts....I've never found one person who grew up there that ever experienced anything supernatural, and we used to go out on the battlefield at midnight, dodging the park rangers.

no ghosts huh? Even on Sachs bridge? My parents retired up in Gettysburg and I ride up there often. Tons of low-traffic roads to explore in the area. The roads are mostly rollers and it can get pretty windy at times.
