To those of you who have been hit, what are some of the questions cops ask you after you've been hit by a car?

Does anyone know what questions they ask the driver?

BTW, whatever happened to the rabbi who hit a bike in '05 and killed a pedestrian last year, wasnt he suppose to go to court this month?

I was asked "what happened." Then, "were you wearing your helmet?" followed by, "how fast were you riding?" . . . and finally, to the driver, "Lady, you are supposed to yield to the cyclist."

I was carried off by an ambulance to the hospital, so, I don't know if the lady received a citation or not. There wasn't a scratch on my bike, and my arm turned out not to have been broken. The bruises went away after a month or two, and the police report still wasn't "ready."

I decided to revel in my gratitude that I wasn't seriously injured and never followed up in exacting any more misery on the lady than what she surely must have heaped upon herself. At the scene, however, she displayed almost total ignorance as to what had happened and that she was at fault.

Personally, I like to cast off the negative stuff and move on to what's positive. I think it makes you feel better on in the long run.

they don't ask anything because they weren't there because you yelled at the driver to give you $200 and they did and you were happy

I was hit when I was crossing an intersection. A SUV turning right took me out by hitting my back tire, causing me to hit the road. The cops and fire (medics are part of fire here) were called because I got a nasty on my right elbow that was bleeding all over the place. Turned out later that I'd broken my elbow.

The cops asked me where I was riding, how fast I was going, and if I was sure that I had the light. I don't know exactly what they asked the driver of the SUV, but he got a citation for failure to yield.

"Do you know what day it is? The date? Who is the president of the United States? How many fingers am I holding up?" Well, that is what I ask, if an ambulance crew is not already there; it gives an indication of a head injury. Also, if a person does not know such simple answers, their account of the collision may show similar inaccuracy. Otherwise, the usual, "Can you tell me what happened?" Plus, all the questions necessary to determine direction of travel, lane position, etc., of all vehicles and persons involved. There is no standard list of questions I use, and I actually like to let them give a free narrative first, then I will go back to get anything missing and clear up contradictions and fantastical claims.
