I haven't watched that show in ages. It's just silly and to me, unwatchable.

Wow, that show is still going? I watched the first three or four seasons (up until the one where Jack faked his death and moved to Canada at the end of the season finale). I ended up not watching TV at all anymore after that season, but even so, I wasn't going to watch 24 the next season. It was getting a bit too ridiculous, so I figured I'd bow out before it went too far downhill. :)

I bought the first two seasons on DVD a few months ago. I thought I'd watch one episode a night for a while, but I ended up watching the entire first season over a three day weekend. I couldn't stop.

The second season is still in the shrinkwrap. I'm afraid of it...

Jason Mews watched the entire series on DVD almost non stop, taking 6 hours to sleep, then getting back to it. At the time he was living in Kevin Smith's basement.

That concludes my contribution of utterly useless knowledge for today.

+1, I enjoyed first season, but it the concept was a one-time thing. It was silly after that to me.

Yeah, I'll end up watching it even though it's the same every season. At least it's not prison break. :(

I'm waiting for Battlestar Galactica to start back up, although last season was terrible.

Dexter starts at the end of the month.

All these shows are great to watch while on the trainer.

Be afraid... be very afraid. I first became hooked on 24 when Fox was airing all of season 2 in one day. I happened to be channel surfing at different times of the day, and I stumbled across two of the more dramatic points of that season. I've been hooked since. Yes, some seasons have been better than others. Season 2 was one of the best, in my opinion, but this past season wasn't so great. I still go with the flow and enjoy it. Aside from the news, 24 and road cycling are the only two TV programs that I watch regularly, so I don't feel bad about that one "guilty pleasure". At least it gives me something to look forward to on Mondays!

Sure it would have been called 12...and been a lot shorter and made more sense. Instead its actually up to 96, which is a depressingly long time.

Had 9/11 never happened and the walking piece of mad cow disease not being in the White House, 24 wouldn't have good ratings and gone off the air long ago. After watching a couple of episodes, I didn't like the show and haven't watched it ever since. It only reinforces what certain people would like us to think and before you know it, you'll be checking under your bed for terrorists every day.

So you think it is unlikely that there are any terrorists/ organizations that hate this country and want to kill us??? Nobody is saying that the White House is the greatest, but right now this country is not exactly beloved in certain parts of the world...

I don't think this is true at all. The show is a one trick pony in that it is structured around cliff hangers. Every episode ends with a cliff hanger. Every commercial break involves a cliff hanger. It's a simple psychological mechanism that keeps people hooked.

They did the same thing with Prison Break which is 24's left-wing counterpart which is predicated on there being some vast corporate conspiracy which is orchestrating our politics. But here again, the important thing is that the story is structured by these nested cliffhangers.

Theoretically, producers could keep mimicking this formula over and over again. The content really doesn't matter.

Thats great, makes it easy for me to find things to watch.

"oh look, that crap TV show formula again, flip...thanks NBC (or whatever broadcasting company uses it)"

It think the show was more a backlash to reality tv. I remember some people calling 24 the television savior for pulling tv away from reality tv.

My favorite 24 character is Chloe. They should make a spin-off about her unstable personal life. It would be far more entertaining at this point.
