I just got a sweet Nishiki International with Suntour Cyclone derailers and a color matched milled seatpost, I was worried a bit at first that the fully chromed fork may be tweaked because it was stearing to one side but after further inspection I discovered that the rear wheel was not centered in the dropouts... Go figure, the only other problem aside from the dried out and cracked gum hoods is that the tires are totaly gone, the sidewalls are cracked and crumbled all around, I had an old mountain bike with similarly cracked sidewalls and because it was only a beater rode it till the sidewall seperated from the bead.. I'm not going to try my luck on this nice road bike for sure. After it's cleaned up with new tires I'll take some photos.
it has on it now crumbling Specialized Commuter II 27"X1"1/8 tires, I've got a Miyata fitted with IRC Road Winner Duro IIs of the same size but they are noticeably wider Than the old dry rotted 27"X1"1/8s on the Nishiki.. I have a pair of Panaracer Pasela 27"X1"1/8s but I don't like the tread on them, I'd like something more like a slick like the IRCs (which have the "holographic tread" that really doesn't do anything) but narrower but not super skinny like a straight 1" which are hard to find anyway... Also cheap would be nice, around or under thirty bucks for the pair. Also I couldn't find the IRC for sale at Nashbar, did they stop carrying them or are they disconinued? I really like them and I think I got my last pair for under ten bucks. I've got a lot of 27" bikes and there's no need to swap to 700c as long as I can still get decent tires, what are good sources? so far I've looked on biketoolsetc.com, Harris Cyclery and Nashbar which doesn't seem to have a single 27" tire..
Thanks,
