Guinness = Good....
Newcastle....not even in the same class....it is the Amber Bock of Britain
Beef + Taddy Porter = Goodness
I should buy a prime strip this weekend.

Also please try Guinness Extra Stout.....in the bottle....and not the Draft type with the widiget....Extra Stout is the best beer in the world....and very different than Draft Guinness.....

While Guinness is good stuff, I'm gonna be a blasphemer and say I like Murphy's better.

Murphys is only good if you get it in Cork, everywhere else it tastes like a pint of Guinness with a teaspoon of sugar in it.

I'll have to take your word for it. Unfortunately I was stuck here working when my fiancee went to Ireland on a business trip back in the spring. :(

I don't want to take offence BUT any beer is a good beer...It takes many years to find a fav....I found mine in Dublin...no offence if you have never been there...

I heard they only serve Newcastle in bottles over 'there' cause there was some kinda of concern of water quality at one point, like lead or arsenic, and the people there don't trust the draft.

if over 'there' means the UK, then you are right. i can't recall ever seeing Newkie Brown on tap.
no clue as to what lead or arsenic has to do with it.

ive had beers from all over (we have beers of the world here in rochester, ny) and i still like guinness the best. On a hot day though, i grab a bud or coors light thats a little more refreshing lol.
there was also an Irish Cream Ale in a green can like guinness comes in, i forget the name, but wow was it good! :) i better stop at beers of the world soon;)
:D Coupla Guiness empties in my recycle bin this morn as well!
Had a skunky tasting Sierra Nevada Pale with my excellent schmoked pork plate for supper too.

Continuing my crusade to enlighten the gullible about poorly made beer being sold at premium prices:
College kids are either drinking the cheapest thing they can get their hands on or are trying to be cool by drinking those foul tasting IPAs. Red drinks REAL beer, not that pretendabeer that is all hops and little malt.

Yeah man.. that's the stuff, it was good. Not as bitter as the guinness I've had before.

What about good, hoppy, heavy ales? Lotsa hops, lotsa malt? I make a couple of brews that have high IBUs, but they're also heavy enough to drink with a fork.

For all intensive purposes Newkie Brown is the same thing.

IPAs are delicious, as are many beers, including Newcastle. Some people are just picky I guess (not to mention snobbish).
To me having a beer is about enjoying myself, not telling other people what to like in a haughty and know- it-allish manner.

Not a guinness or ipa fan.
I agree with Oleanshoebox, I drink beer I enjoy, I definitely dont enjoy the heavy beers. Unless made by unibrue. For some reason their beer tastes like a higher beers touched it and made it better :) But really I will drink whats available and tastes good.

I like Guinness, but for a stout, I tend to prefer Young's Chocolate Stout. Nice depth and texture to it, like a really good coffee.

I was not a Guinness fan either.. it just happened that this was the only 'real' beer that they were selling by the pint besides newcastle so I bought it. But this 'xtra stout' stuff did not taste at all like the guinness I had drank before.. it was good stuff, very flavorful.

This is why it is wise to cultivate a taste for wine and hard stuff. A nice port or a fine rum like Cruzan estate single barrel can not make up fully for running out of Newcastle, but at least you can drown your sorrows.

New Castle is way over rated and over priced. And if some one can really tell the difference between Guinness in Irl and Guinness in the US they must be a super taster, I couldn't tell a difference

Incorrect. There are many beverages here in the states that pass themselves off as beer.

Me and some of my fellow Ducati bretheren invaded the Olney Ale House on Weds. and I had the pleasure of getting this on draft. I have had the cans numerous times, but the draft was pretty good too. I also had a pint of Smithwicks which was pretty good. For dark I love me a Guiness, but Spaten is aces.

And what is wrong with a good IPA? You must have Continental roots.
I agree Newcastle is piss, though.

"Terrible" is one of my favourites from them. I don't know that I'd call anything they make a "heavier" beer, though. They have a good, dark amber colour, but not really a heavy body to them. Chilled a little bit I think most of the beers they brew are great summer evening ales (at least for the cool summer evenings up here) because they've got a light body but a nice complex flavour to enjoy.
/I'm kind of a beer snob sometimes, but I've also been known to buy Sparks Plus and just pound 'em like soda.

I had a Guinness last night. Only beer that's still good warm.
All out of Nukie Brown? Guiness is acceptable only during months with an R in the name and it must be on tap and drawn properly!
Try Smithwicks!
