Fifty Plus (50+) - What a day for a ride !!!!!

I believe Bicyclees, the bike God was smiling upon me today!!!:D

Got off for the weekend at 06:00 A.M. and hammered home on the
old Trek in anticipation of the maiden voyage on the new bike. Clear
weather, low Dew Point and low 70's made for a delightful day. The
bike handled like a charm. Well made, sturdy, flawless shifting and
above all else...FUN. For the first time since riding the old Coaster
Brake Columbia of my youth, I could enjoy seeing all the scenery
around me effortlessly. I put in 34 miles and have no sore neck
muscles, no sore wrists from holding my fat self up on the bars, and my
posterior was comfy. My only limitations on this bike will be the
strength of my legs (assuming I retain my cardio-pulminary conditoning).

'Twas a nice day for maiden rides in R-Town yesterday. Loaded my helmet, bike clothes and shoes in my backpack and took the bus downtown. Stopped at the ATM and was at the LBS a half-hour before opening time. A half-hour after they opened, I rode home on my new Trek Portland.

Mounted my lights, cyclometer, pump and rack at home, then took the long way to work. Took the usual route home, mounted the grocery panniers and went for the maiden grocery run. Gotta work today and Saturday, but Sunday...

Yes. It was designed by Gardner Martin as a beginners recumbent so to speak.
With a higher seat than many it's quite easy for us old DF'ers to adjust to. It's
heavy at 40#s but quite stable and lots of fun.

Those Portlands look like very nice bikes. Once you get used to the disc brakes I bet you fall in love with them.

The doors was locked and the windows were shuttered! Someting about

Bunch of hard working folks in Town! The area that Leeny took the picture at will certainly be busy this weekend.

The QUESTION is this...Did Lenny do the winding part up the hill to Seabreeze or not? That is the question that all Bent Riders are asking! LOL!

Yes He did!!! And at 20+ miles into the ride I might add, and I actually
caught up to a mountain bike near the top. After that I took the
Genesee River Trail up from the Turning Basin to Lake Ave. near
Burley St. That EZ Sport has some pretty low gears. The bigger
question is...how do you balance a LWB at <5mph? :o

Practice?

I spent time in the parking lots doing slow speed figure "8"s on my Rocket
partly to get used to the short wheel base and Heal strike issues of that bike.

Spent almost every ride for two weeks trying to dial in my position to make it just right.
Twas worth the effort.

I just put the same kickstand on, in the same place, on my Sun bent this morning. Had to cut about 3" off for it to work. I really like it.

And it looks like you have your seat set at close to the same angle that I do. I like an upright position.

I'm still experimenting. Dropped the seat back a notch after that first ride
and rode 30 miles each morning for the next three days. I may try dropping it
back another notch when I can ride again next week. Fenders and a rear
rack going on soon too.
