Classic & Vintage - Nishiki Continental?

Hi guys, I'm looking at this Nishiki. I believe it's a Continental, but can't tell for sure. Could someone with a better knowledge of Nishiki's confirm this for me? The price seems a bit steep for that bike. What do you guys think? I'm desperate for a bike and willing to spend $175 on a bike, is this reasonable? I'd really appreciate any input as I'm a newbie! Thanks guys!

I don't think it's a Continental - I had one from a similar period and it was a fully fledged touring bike with 2 sets of water bottle bosses, canti brakes, lowrider mounts on the fork and two sets of eyelets on the rear.
However, it does looks very much like an INTERNATIONAL. T-Mar will be able to give you more info...

I justy bought a bike exactly like that but in 56cm and needing a cleaning and it is an international, It's possible they weren't very consistent with their naming regime as other brands though.

It may be a Continental, but my guess would be a late 1970s to 1980 International. The crank appears too low end for a Continental, but it is color matched to the frame, so I'm assuming it is original. It also has a spoke protector and wider range gearing than I would expect on a Continental. That appears to be a Cyclone GT on the rear and some International were spec'd with it.

If you get it, let us know what it is. Also, PM me with the serial number and component date codes. I'm trying to decrypt the serial number format.

Bike looks in good shape,paint looks good, tires seem ok, rims appear to be alloy (positive) everything seems original, must be low mileage bike with decent lugs and ready to ride. If you need a bike go for it, make sure it fits. It looks like a popular size 58cm. Easy to resell. Offer him 125 go from there. Ride it, and in the meantime look for catchs of the day. The name of the model appears to be on the top tube. Good luck Id go for it

Heck - it even comes with a "Flickstand". What's not to like.

I live over by Mt Diablo, so I'm relatively close to you. If you buy it and it needs some tweaking, drop me a pm and maybe we can put it on the stand and get it ship-shape.
