Long Distance Cycling - 7 speed Nexus hub for Long Distance

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi,
Just wanted to know if someone rides a long distance event using the Nexus 7 speed hub and would happy to see this person's bike
Thanks
Can't say I've ever seen one on a Brevet but I've only done two, and considering people do PBP on fixed gears I don't see why not.

One of the randonneurs here in Oregon restored a 1973 Raleigh Super Course using the Nexus 8 speed hub. You can find the story of the restoration (and a link to the pictures) at

Shimano's 7sp internal hub doesn't appear to be as durable as their 8sp and the overall range is almost the same as SA's 5sp hub.
I don't know of anybody using the 7sp for brevets.
