I finally decided to de-lurk and register here and have to say I'm loving the place for it's wide ranging categories that aren't represented quite as thoroughly at my other favourite bike forums.
What would anyone want to know about me besides how I seem to find so many cool bikes ?

I'm a nearly 42 single dad of two beautiful daughters and am presently apprenticing as a machinist to increase my skills for the day I start handbuilding my own bicycles and of course...make a living.
I am heavily involved in our local cycling community and volunteer as a mechanic at our community shop where we teach and assist people in repairing their rides which are predominantly commuters and utilitarian machines.
I also volunter for a children's charity where I also refurbish bikes for needy kids although my current schedule does not allow me nearly enough time to do this... it is one of the most satisfying things I could ever do after being a dad.
I'm consider myself to be a cyclist first as I'm a mountain biker, road biker, and commuter, and use my bikes for pretty much everything else since I choose to live a car free life. I have more than a few utilitarian bikes, have designed and built my own trailer and have a passion for vintage bikes... my oldest is a 1933 CCM coaster bike that gets ridden regularly and my newest acquisition ois a 1971 Phillips Twenty folder.
I live in Edmonton Alberta Canada and will be riding through the winter (on a fixed gear) and would have to say most of my saddle time is spent riding vintage fixed gear bicycles although I am not opposed to riding with gears from time to time.
