I have a Savage stainless synthetic (non-accutrigger) in HMR. It stayed immersed in salt water for 3 days post Katrina. It still does half MOA at 100. Savage rimfires are the way to go.

Jeebus! That's good to hear - I just got The Woman a syn stocked Savage Sporter. For a rifle that only weighs 7 lbs(total), it shoots with the best of them. Almost keeps up with my 14 lb bull barrel.

The 700 and the 03 have a lot of differences. 03's are closely related to Mauser's, but not Remington 700's. Also note that a 700, or any big bolt action rifle would have a much more visibly large receiver with a big old bolt.

Him getting slammed for that was a load of crap. Maybe the picture was a bit insensitive, but hunting is just as much as sport as cycling. I'd be willing to bet he took the rabbit home and ate it, and the furry little buggers aren't exactly endangered.

Yeah it does. Personally I'd be at an angle to the gun and one leg bent so that the knee provided a wider base. But you can't argue with his groupings.
