Request to change category from Cat 5 to Cat 4
Started racing midway through the season and 7 starts later, 2 1st places, and one 3rd, 4th, and 5th place, and 8 primes I'm finally a four. :)

Congrats! Great results. You have some momentum to carry you through the 4s. Cat 3 by June? Looks like you really learned your way around the pack :)
One of my mentees is upgrading to 4 Thursday night at the weekly crit. He's going to race the Cat 5 crit for his 10th race, then 10 minutes later do the Cat 1-4 open race "with" me :D
He's currently the 3rd ranked USAC cat 5, but it's because of top-10 placings in both the state TT and RR. No wins... yet.

I am in the Detroit metro area. My 2 first places and 8 primes were in a Canadian series that IMO is much slower then a normal cat5 crit. I showed up for 3 out of 12 of the races, and finished 2nd overall in points, and 1st in sprinters category.
I can't wait to race again, but most races are done by now. There is a series down in Ohio that still has a few races that I am thinking about doing. Should be worth the drive.
I recently started doing MTBing for the first time in 7 years, and really the first time ever even half way seriously. I bought a 29er SS rigid about a month ago. I did my first race Sunday, decided to enter the men's 19-29 Sport class (non Single speed class) (ranking goes beginner, sport, expert, elite) and finished 5th place out of 10 with a mechanical on my first lap that sent me to the back of the pack by about 30 seconds. Looking at my split times, if I would have raced beginner, I would have won the beginner class by about a minute (they had to do 2 laps, I had to do 3). Doing another one next week. Got to keep spinning my legs somehow.

Thursday is my first open. Also the first time I'll be sporting the AT&T Jersey. Who's excited? Yeah, that'd be me.

That's awesome! I was hoping to talk to some ATT guys tonight about signing on for next season, but scheduling kept me from the Tuesday Nighter. It's so tough not to be there right now. Maybe I can find Sol between the 3/4 and the Open.
I'll be doing the Open, but with tenderized legs from trying to win that freaking 3/4 race. I really hope I can do better than 5th this time  I bought a whole case of whoopass, that's cooling in the fridge right now.
So, in the Open I'll just be trying not to pop... and of course trying to get in the right breaks, like a can't-suffer-enough-idiot
