"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Back In So Cal

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I'm finally getting settled in and back in the bike. Joined PAA for next season and will start doing the the Desconso ride. I spent 8 weeks basically off the bike living hotels and eating out every meal. I'm 8 pounds heavy and my back is a wreck from the motel beds. I have a ton of work to do over the next few months.
Noticed a couple of things while I was away from BF that never change. Someone will post a negative thread about a frame material, the never ending debate over drugs, and Patencad will have started at least one thread a day about himself and then refer to himself in the third person throughout. I do love this place.

Want to ride tomorrow? Starbucks at the corner of San Dimas Ave. and Bonita Ave. at 8:30 AM in San Dimas. It might be a little bit of a drive for you but we will be going over GMR to Baldy and whatever extra we need to do to get 3.5 hours. Moderate pace.

Sounds fun but I've got to stay on relatively flat roads, no climbing.

Cool! I might be joining the Montrose or Descanso ride a few times next year. My neighbor races with PAA.

Glad to hear you're getting back out on two wheels, relatively healthy.

Who's your neighbor? Does he race with the elite or masters team? My friend and former teammate runs the elite team. Back to the cans. Since EDR joined a team, I guess I won't see those in our kit.

Welcome back to the bike EDR. I've only just begun getting back on track myself after the move to Seattle.

His name is Kevin (sorry, don't know his last name) and I don't know what category he races in although he doesn't look over 35. Then again, he's Asian and I can't tell age worth beans with Asians!

So I measured the climb back to my house (my house is at the top of a good sized hill) .667mi ave grade 7.9%, with two sections over 13%. Just the thing I need to cool down with after a hard workout!
