It would be nice to know when these hubs will be available for sale in North America - both the individual hub and manufactured bikes that will feature them. It seems strange, but a great many North American transportational cyclists ride in rainy and/or wintry climates. We would like to be able to have disc brakes. :)
I sent an email directly to Shimano. If they don't respond, I will ask them at Interbike, if I get a chance.

will Sturmey-Archer (sunrace) reproduce the ASC or any fixed gear hub?

Actually, that would be the topic of another thread. And I have a current contact for them. :D

I'm a trend setter! (sorta) http://buggytexas.com/highsierra.html :)
For those who can't wait Alfine can be bought now in Europe. The following site ships to the US. Convert to dollars and take off 18% (no VAT outside the EU) for the North American price.

Please ask him why Shimano doesn't make a brifter or shifter that will mount on road bars for the nexus/alfine group. Please, nobody chime in about the hub-bub adapter.
