Which battery comes closest to the manufacturers claim when the weather turns cold? The Li-Ion or Nimh?

Just keep your batts warm by strapping them on to your self.

Bad idea. Consider what would happen if you are in a crash. This would only work for helmet lights.

Li-Ion is a better choice for temps under 40F or so, the point where NiMH suffers poor low temperature charge and discharge performance. Because NiMH cells use a water-based electrolyte, the battery becomes sluggish below freezing temperatures.

Your talking about the cables right?

In a crash you would pretty much rip the light off it's mount. unless you make a safety like a magnetic connector half way down the power line.

Can you put a chemical hand warmer packet against the battery before you strap it on to the frame?

Without doing anything to try to keep the battery warm, which one holds up better to their claims? According to Chipcom he gives the nod to Li-Ion. Does anyone disagree or agree with him?
