I took apart the '88 World Traveler that I picked up from PastorBob last night. Joytech alloy hubs and rims; some pitting on the cones but they'll work fine enough for now. The problem is, the tires are pretty bad, ok for a quick ride or two, but need replacing -- and they are marked "27 x 1 1/4 for Schwinn". I couldn't find my handy metric tape measure last night, but would Schwinn have been using a non-630mm tire in 1988?

Fairly certain that is just another 27" tire of the 630mm variety

Any new 27" tire will do fine. My guess is those rims have a nice hooked bead edge.
