My wife just called me to report that she has seen the dumbest man in the world.

While at a traffic light this morning, a man turned out of a gas station in front of her, with the fuel nozzle and hose still attached to his vehicle.

I bet he paid at the pump and is going to be a bit surprised at how much this mornings fill up ends up costing him!!!!

Now my question to ya'll is this: Which foo rat did she see?:D

As a matter of fact, I had a great deal on my mind at that particular moment. Important Things, you understand, Great Thoughts. Things that would have preoccupied anyone, if only they were Clever Enough. I really do object to being characterized as foolish or something. Besides, I am sure they will be able to replace or repair the pump hose and nozzle without much trouble.

He must not be the dumbest because that happened to me once. About 15 years ago when i was living in a small town i stopped in the middle of a blizzard one day to fill up with gas at THE local convenience store.

The wind was blowing about 60 mph and driving the snow into my face like a sandblaster. So I spent very little time outside while the gas was pumping. I ran inside to pay and ran back out just as fast to avoid the painful snow and cold.

Then i quickly pulled away. I heard a loud thunk but just assumed it was the trash barrel blowing against the light pole. Anyway I was on my way out of town and i got a cell phone call about 30 minutes into the trip.

Turns out the lady that owned the convenience store had called my mom at home and was wanting to know if the nozzle from their pump was still stuck in my car. I thought "what the hey are you talking about?" Then i got out and looked and there it was. Still sticking out of my car.

She told my mom that if i had it she wanted me to return it because they weren't going to be able to sell anymore gas for that weekend. Well, considering that i had about 90 more miles to drive and that it was in the middle of a blizzard, it was an easy call. I grabbed the hose and nozzle out of my tank, tossed it in the ditch, jumped back in the car, and told my mom on the cell phone to call her back and tell her i lost it.

An awful shame that i left the town not having any gas that weekend, but I don't have much of a conscience and it was damned cold. :D

It happens more often than you think apparently... One of the lab assistants here has a picture some lady who did the same thing. He saw it happen and chased her down so he could snap a picture (much to her dismay).

I saw someone do that in the area of town where I live in. I didn't have the time to yank out my cellphone to pop a snapshot of it though.

It happens a lot though, and a number of bigger gas stations keep spares just because of this.

Happened to my mom once, only on the receiving end. She was getting gas at the gas station, and the woman in the car next to her drove off with the nozzle still attached. It broke, or snapped, or something, and a piece of it shot off and hit the edge of the roof my mom's car, inches from the driver's side window, with enough force to leave a dent several inches long and a half or three-quarters of an inch deep.

I mean, I've driven off with the filler door open (on a car where it was located on the passenger side), but damn.

PB has a lot of bars, owner of a convenience store said it happens about once a week normally to the buyer of a 18 pack filling and up at the same time.

Wonder what the connection is between 18 packs and this phenomena?
