Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If the weather is too bad my 100 may turn into 70. We'll have to see. I will watch for you.

Anyone do this today? I'll admit I don't like riding in the cold constant rain, so I bailed on the ride. I'm in from out of town and hung out with some old friends, so I had a great day anyway.

Wow, that was something...wet, cold, and generally just ugly. My first 'big' ride ever, AND my first ride ever in the rain. I first got on a road bike in March, and have lost 53 lbs since February, so this was a big challenge I've been looking forward to all summer long. Here are my specs:
Total time on route: 5:07 hrs
Total moving/riding time: 4:30 hrs
Total distance: 69.5 miles
Avg speed: 15.4 mph
Max speed: 30.3 mph
Elevation gain: +4,540 feet (according to Motionbased upload - another one says 3100)
Avg Heart Rate: 148 bpm (zone 4)
Avg Temperature: 49 degrees (max 50)
Avg Wind Speed: 10 mph, max 14
Calories Burned: 5100 (yeah, baby!)
I've posted my own personal experience on my blog, click here if you're interested in reading it (http://weightlossgrace.blogspot.com/2007/10/day-242-livestrong-challenge-day-after.html).
Thanks,
Paul

Congrats guys, that's fantastic! nwduffer, I read your detailed story, congrats on the weight loss (I'm down about 60 myself, so I know how hard it can be) and congrats on the personal best distance. Having said all that, I'm glad I didn't ride. I had a rain jacket and some wool stuff, but no leg warmers.
I'll be back next year with full rain gear!
