Mountain Biking - MTB shoe sizes

I think I am ready to go clipless. I have been looking for shoes on performance and nashbars sites but the sizes are not the standard US sizes. I looked for a size conversion chart on there sites but could not find one. Does anyone know where I can find out what size I need?

most sneakers will have the european size listed next to the american.

The best way to find out what size you need is to go to a local bike shop and try it on. Then, support them by buying there. You will pay a couple of bucks more sometimes, but you will have instant gratification, and you can take them back if there is a problem.

The other way, (I am having to do), which sucks crank, is searching this forum for people with your shoe size, and try to guess. Sucks worse for me, because returning them for another pair to the US is going to cost me $50. I am a shoes size 11.5 (US) and I am ordering a Specialized size 45. <Crossing fingers>

I noticed that one of the sites linked on my other (shoe peddal recomendation) thread has US sizes. I may go with them for now because I probubly won't make it to the local bike shopes for a while.

Nashbar/Performance sizes are US.

Now the issue is different brands/models fit differently for the "same" size. I have shoes that fit well ranging from size 10 to 12 (US).

The only way to deal with this is call each company for each shoe you are interested in or call the place you want to order from, they are second to the company alone.. They are the only people who know their shoes the best and want you to have a good fit so you'll recommend them. I called Nashbar about Lake shoes and talked to an LBS about Specialized and they were very helpful in helping pick a size.
