Last week, LACBC staff and members attended the MTA Board meeting, where the Directors voted to establish a Bus Accident Investigative Unit. LACBC Outreach Coordinator Monica Howe spoke of the conflicts between cyclists and buses and the need to expand Metro's investigations to include such incidents.

On Sunday evening on Sunset Blvd in Echo Park while riding back from work a Metro bus behind me honked at me. It was not a friendly honk. I looked back, gave the driver the look and took off. Weird, I've never been honked at before by a Metro driver. What did I do? :D

What does a 'unfriendly' honk sound like?

Anymore I just assume that the people are cheering me on and all those obscenities they shout are just their over-exuberance in conveying their feelings to me about how great I am... ;)

Thanks for posting this. I hope that MTA will adapt something into the training program along the lines of what has already done in Portland for instance.
