I'm sure some of you've made the mistake of not putting the wheel in fully and bent a skewer, will it do anything bad? It's been like that for weeks and nothing wrong so far, and it kind of straightened out a bit. Also, do you need the spring? IDK if I lost it just now or when I opened it the other time, is it important?

The spring adds pressure against the nut and the quick-release so they stay tight, sort of like a washer. You can probably go to a shop and beg for one; they aren't hard to come by.
Personally, I don't believe I've ever not fully seated the wheels in the dropouts. Life's short, but not so short you can't take an extra second and make sure your bike's together properly. Buy a new skewer at PricePoint.com for cheap and all your worries are gone.

^ as said above sprint is just to center skewer and make it easier, it won't matter if you don't have em, but a bent skewer, hmm, if its really bent i'm supprised you can even get it through the hub, i you can then it must not be bent very much so is prolly fine, i guess it could cause fatigue down the road, but i just don't see a skewer snapping from being pulled on when you close the qr, it is steel
