Hi,

I've just got hold of a Carnielli folding tandem:

From what I can gather they were originally sold with a 3 speed hub gear/brake. Mine has been upgraded to a 5 speed hub (though with a nasty pastic changer which has just broken).

Does anyone have nay further information about these? I'd particularly like to see any original marketing materials etc.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Tom

So, like, do girls just come up to you and ask for a ride or something? That bike seems to be much better than a puppy!

Notwithstanding all of that, it does look really fun. The five-speed hub is a good thing, although you'll have to rerig something better than plastic.

Damn, I gotta get one of those! And then maybe put a basket on the front with a puppy in it. :D

I've heard that Carnielli made other bike brands besides Bottecchia but this is the first one I've seen. Very nice.

You definitely get a lot of attention riding it. Luckily I was with my girlfriend so no need to tout for passengers.

The re-rigging is in progress, I see from some old photos that it used to have a Sturmey Archer 3 speed shifter, as it's an old style 5 speed hub it has two control chains so it'll need a shifter on each side, one for up and one for down.

The old one was one of these: http://www.sturmey-archerheritage.com/detail.php?id=151 (far right).

Basket will also be reattached soon.
