With a baby due in December and the bills piling up to the ceiling, I thought it was time to seek supplemental employment. Last week on the day I purchased my new bike they were just JAMMED with customers. I mentioned to the manager - who was also working with me on the bike - that he looked a little overwhelmed. He said they have been really short-staffed this year due to some part-timers leaving unexpectedly.

I told him my predicament and he seemed interested. He asked me to give him a few days to talk it over with the co-manager and to stop back during the week. So today I stopped back in and talked to the co-manager who basically told me he would love to have my join the team.

I start this Thursday! :)

Congrats! However, I don't know how much free time you're going to have as soon as that baby is born!

Ha ha. :)

Well, the baby is due in December which they confirmed is probably not their busiest month. I know they need my help part time over the summer and once the baby is born they are willing to be flexible.

Congrats! What type of "job related" experience did you have? Mechanical? Sales?

I have also added you to the industry related forum, where all the drunk shop monkeys hang out. ;)

Have fun. I have been in and out of shops for probably 10 years now. Always part time. Right now I am in. It is a lot of fun, except for the customers:D . When they are watching you work on thier bike and trying to coach. It is important to refrain from saying "If your so good at it, why am I fixing your bike?". That one ended my day at the shop once  I got to go home early.

Enjoy, LBS's are some of the best p/t jobs to have. What kind of discount ya get?

Keswick Cycle.

I hope I didn't jinx myself. I heard back from them tonight - Aapparently they have to run it by the owner before they officially bring me aboard. Wish me luck!

Thats awesome, I've never been there so I'll have to stop by sometime. My friend who is going away to college this fall just told me that they need someone at the shop he works at and he put in a good word about me. whooo
