The ride doesn't start till 8am, but you are pretty speedy so I don't think you will have a problem getting back to SB for your party!!

I want to do this ride, because it is a charity related ride, but I want to have lots of regroup and photos with all of you BF friends.

Shai, honestly, you make me laugh so much. I love your Shai English! How about I not "drag" myself with Energen-C (what exactly is that? :p) and instead, "drug" myself with Emergen-C. ;) :D

Regardless, I'll have to see how I feel on Friday.

Also, does Emergen-C actually help with a cold once you already have it? Only thing I know that works once you get it is avoiding as much food as possible, especially no dairy or heavy grains, drinking your meals, chicken or tomato soup with lots of pepper, juices (not cold) and hot teas, anything with lemon and menthol, keep warm, sweat it out, sleep, take aspirin or equivalent to help with the pain.

Shai himself coined it "Shai English" - you need to get with the program, newbie. :p AND I DON'T SEE YOU POSTING IN THE OTHER THREAD WITH THE PICTURES! (drink the Koolaid, already)

As for my cold/flu/funk...all sound advice you've provided. However, what I plan to do tonight is stop off at the store and pick up Vick's Vapor Rub and some whiskey. I'm going to put the Vick's on the soles of my feet and cover them with socks, put the Vick's on my IBTs (i.e. chest) and cover it with a towel and drink the whiskey (in a hot toddy, of course). That's the way we southerners do it.

I got new pedals (spd); after one ride of 30 miles it feel like I am using difference musles so I am not sure how a 100 miles will be; yet, I am looking forward.

Last March, I rode the Solvang Double sick (bad head and chest cold with raving asthma - who's the wuss now, huh!). In fact, this is the third sick I've had (other than light little sniffles). I was sick in March/July/now. It's as if my body knows to spread it out throughout the year. But as for riding, NO. I do NOT want to be sick-er for the remaining two weeks this year. :rolleyes:

Karen, I rode the route last week with some friends that could not do the ride this weekend. I will be starting from Westlake Village and doing a free ride with some friends at 7:30am. We may follow some of the Xmas route and modify it a bit as well. We may end up taking Mulholland or Latigo back up from the coast. Maybe I will see you out there at some point.

I was delighted to cross paths with the wonderful people on this ride today. I recognized Karen and Stan. I thought I recognized Herb too but it turns out he was 100 miles away. Herb, your identical twin also rides!! (I was across the street and, well, blind, but he looked like you.) Who else was there? I couldn't see everyone.

Hey Karen! That was me shouting out to you as I went the opposite direction on the shop ride today.

I didn't see any with cameras, and I DNF so I only have like 4 photos up to mile 20 where I ended my ride.
In 40 mph down portero, I brake to hard on a turn with water and ended up off the road complete 360 flip while on the bycicle. All my body hurt but nothing is broken (well, the helmet is).
Will try to upload the photos later.

Oh no, Shai! Glad you're okay. Those descent crashes are the scariest. You are lucky. Bike okay, as well? It's been a bad year for crashes. Again, glad you're okay!
