I didn't see any with cameras, and I DNF so I only have like 4 photos up to mile 20 where I ended my ride.
In 40 mph down portero, I brake to hard on a turn with water and ended up off the road complete 360 flip while on the bycicle. All my body hurt but nothing is broken (well, the helmet is).
Will try to upload the photos later.

Gald you are OK Shai!!

I made a last minute decision to do this ride, and I'm glad I did. Some of my favorite people were there, and it was a beautiful day. Shai went down in a good spot, if there is such a thing. No curb or fence to hit, and he got right up. He had his wife pick him up, and I hope he feels better soon.
Our group stopped at Neptune's Net, and several of us had clam chowder. A great day!

Great weather today. Me and some friends did a modified route which took us over various canyons on the return loop. 114 Miles at the end of the day. My legs are fried.

Shai, glad to hear your feeling ok. Portero has some bad spots that are commly wet and slippery.

Still waiting for Karen to check in. She was with a small group and still out there when I left for home. Also, there were 3 ladies from BHSC club, 2 of which were on their first century, and they were pretty worried about Encinal when I spoke to them at Neptune's Net. Wonder how they did.

This was a great ride, for those of you that couldn't make it, it turned out to be the perfect day. True it was a little cold at 8:00AM, but it warmed out, and outside of a little wind on the coastal plain, the weather was perfect. It was great riding with Big John, and the rest of the SFVBC gang. It was too bad that Shai crashed and was hurt.

John,

Irene and I, went in to Corner Bakery, and a little bit to eat, sat with Sarah, Keith, Stan, and Irene's teammate, can't remember her name. When we left at 5:40, they gals from the Beverly Hills Social Climbers, had just gotten in. But still no Karen and her friends. The sun had just gone down, I was hoping that Karen would make it soon. Karen, I hope you had a good ride.

I last saw Karen on Lynn road, before the first rest stop, but Brian at the Encinal stop said her group was still on the road. I was thinking she may have just ridden home, since she lives out that way.
BTW, Irene's teammate is Charlayne, a good rider, and funny, too.

Shai,

Wow, glad you didn't break anything. I climbed into Hidden Valley from the backside and noted that there was the usual stream of water at that one turn. It's deadly as it's omnipresent and often slippery due to moss and algae. You are pretty lucky. I'm always scared dropping down that hill until I pass the water.

Present and accounted for!!!
wonderful seeing you guys as usual, I love riding with the BF folks!!!
I did not get back to the cars until right before 5 pm.
Was with Ed, Elizabeth and Mike.
I had two flats.....this is from the girl who never gets flats!
1st flat was on Pleasant Vly, 2nd flat (actually a blow out) was on PCH.
We had to put a emergency boot on the tire as there was a pretty good slice in it..
Okay to make it back, but I took it cautionally the reminder of the ride, especially on the descents as I didn't want another blow out.
Besides those couple of mishaps, it was a great day!!

Glad to hear they did well. Nice group of gals (and guys, too) - I've ridden with them on a few occasions.

Sorry about your crash, Shai! :(

thank you all; and for the SFVBC guys that not posing BF (but probably reading it).

What we learn from all that is that we need a backup photographer on rides
After all we are a group of on-line junkeys that spend lots of time cycling & posting (and posing)
I am afraid, I'll be out for few weeks while the body fix it self.
Full details:
Overall I am feeling stupid for what happend. I had to know better to slow down on a 8-12% down hill.
The first 20 miles I felt strong and most of the time in the front of my group, so I think I just was in some show-off mode going down the hill.
The 360 flip was kind of a mazing because for the most part my eyes was open and you expirence 'high speed video' effect. You have no clue as to what is going on. A sec later you find your self messed up not to far from the bike. I am not sure in what point the Sidi detuch - but my left foot is where the most pain is. It have to be after some 30% or more twist. The butt and back have lots of scabs from the smack in to the small rocks.

As I posted to Bill and Mary, if anyone wants to make this a regular ride let me know. I do this loop or a slightly modified loop 4-5 times a year.

Adam, I would love to come do the route. Yes, please. If you'll just give me notice. Or better yet, YOU could start a thread, and you know, lead a ride....;):D

Thanks to everyone who joined the ride Saturday. It was great to see some of you! We're so glad that Shai is a-ok!

Planet Ultra donated to Challenged Athletes Foundation every penny of entry fees collected Saturday. Riders contributed an additional $420 to CAF, and also brought about 30 toys which we brought to our local fire station this morning.

Happy Holidays everyone! See you in 2008!

Shai;

Glad to hear you escaped without serious body damage.
But it's obvious that you've compromised the integrity of your carbon frame.
Go buy a new bike immediately.

:(

Don't feel stupid, Shai. You're a strong and enthusiastic rider and something like this can happen to any of us. I'm just grateful you aren't seriously hurt. But you might want to get your foot checked by a physician to ensure you didn't break something. Feel better!

That bike isn't carbon, it's some gas pipe aluminum, I think.
