I am a member of Team In Training in the Houston area. My team is training for the El Tour de Tucson on November 17. We are currently up to 60+ mile rides every Saturday.

I have to be in Mesquite the first weekend in October, and was looking for a local ride or event to keep up my training. I have found the Tour de Argyle that Saturday, which has a metric century (62 miles). Anybody know of any other rides in the area that weekend that I could join? I am not the fastest rider in the world, so I don't want to hook up with a bunch of racers. I average about 17-18 MPH on the flat, but throw in some hills, and I really start slowing down.

If anybody knows of an organized ride that I could join in on, please let me know.

The Plano Bicycle Association rides or the Greater Dallas Bicyclists will probably have saturday and/or sunday rides in the lengths that you are looking for. I know the PBA's Saturday morning Distance Builder 1 group usually does 60-ish miles at an average of around 17-18. I rode with the DB2 group last weekend and we did 52mi with an average of around 17.5. There are faster and slower groups from there.
