After saving and saving and waiting and waiting, I got my new bike!

I had it adjusted/fitted and picked it up yesterday. It's a Pegoretti Marcelo and quite a step up (and down in weight) from my circa '78 Schwinn Traveler III. The Marcelo is a TIG-welded steel frame, and I had it outfitted with Campy Chorus (except the levers) and Campy Neutron Wheels. I took it for a short test ride, and while it will take a while to get acclimated to the shifting-away from stem mounted friction shifting, I'm looking forward to it. I got it through Competitive Cyclist and they were very helpful. Brendan answered all the questions I had and contributed what I believe was some good advice on my selections. I did not want to go completely mail order, so being a short 5 1/2 hour drive away, I went to pick it up, and Jason took care of the adjustments/fitting. Jason was also very helpful. Overall, a very good purchasing experience. I'm going to attempt to attach a link to their website and a pic of the bike.

Hmmm, all Pegoretti's are beautifull aren't they!?! I'm very happy for you, and proud that you picked Campy!

Nice looking ride, what are those small images of on the frame? Got any close ups? I haven't seen one of those before. Have fun riding and keep us posted about how it rides for you.

For those who haven't come to know yet, Pegoretti is what I believe to be finest maker of bicycles in the world. Those dropouts are so stiff, and somehow, their bikes are noticably more comfortable than frames of the same alloy made by other manufacturers. Congratulations on your choice!!!

I curently am riding a Colnago Dream, and after racing it through the season, I'm going to switch back to using a custom Deda SC6061 Pegoretti that was made custom for me. It's SOOO much nicer than the Colnago.

By the way, I dig that paint job, it's the same one I chose, only mine doesn't say Marcelo.

Congrats Again!

Thanks for the replies. I'll admit, I did a lot of searching and contemplating before choosing this one. As my now older bike has done me well for my off-and-on riding over the past fifteen or so years, I expect no less from this one. I plan on using the other bike to pull a trail-a-long (tag-a-long?) and this one for the rest of the time.

Scott, the mechanic that hung the components, said that he enjoyed working on it-said it's got character. I even got a carbon seatpost that I didn't know I was going to get!

Epicycle: I don't have any close-ups yet, but the little designs are, I believe, the makers faces outlined in white, with hands done in black covering various portions thereof.

It's going to be Sooo nice not to have to let the air out of front tire to take off the wheel and then air it back up every freaking single time..........you know, the little things...........and it's the correct size..........my old one was/is too small.

sweet ride.
So are you gonna take that thang to HHH next weekend?
R4R in October? when can we see it in person.

There's alot of buzz about Pegoretti's over on the
Serotta forum, some of the cognoscenti really think that
Pegs are the italian frame to own.

Lotek: That's the plan. I know my body's going-it's just a matter of which bike. I'm going to do a couple of ten-milers around the house today/tommorow and will take it for a 50-60 miler this Saturday to see how I feel-primarily my back and rear. New position-farther back, new saddle (Fi'zik Aliante) and I don't want the abrupt "changes" to affect my ability to complete/enjoy the ride. Gonna go for the 100-miler. I'm fairly certain the new one will be making the trip, but it (likely my rear) will make the decision for me. Guess if this saddle doesn't work out immediately, I could always move the swift-it would just seem like a give-up to me. I've been riding the other bike a lot-at least for me and have a good comfort level (except for our lovely HEAT) and have been riding 130 or so miles a week with a long one (typically from 65 to 85) on Sats.

I look forward to seeing you and some other members there!

Pedals? I can't afford 'em after spending all my money on the bike. :) Oh, well, back to brown baggin' it.
