Whats up everyone? been lurking and searching around the forums for a little bit.. just signed up to get some feedback from everyone.. im in the market for my first MTB.. i definatly want to go with a hardtail for my first bike.. 1) for the price... dont want to go crazy until i know its something im going to stick with.. and 2.) the general opinion i get is if you get skilled at riding and picking lines on a hardtail it will make you that much better of a fs rider in the future.. however i could be wrong

mostly single track riding nothing crazy hills small jumps and such

Heres my quest.. while looking around the last few days i came across an iron horse maverick 5.0.. its a brand new bike 2007 however its the last 07 in stock so they marked it down from $499 to $429.. and if i apply for the stores credit card i get an extra 20% off the bike.. to mee sounds like a great deal but you guys would know better than me.. i also love the "monster green" color.. (i hear from doing research on this site that green gets you laid) hhaha sorry for the long post all opinions welcome!

Post up a link to the bike. As far as color You can get green if that kind of thing is important to you while riding but I'll take blue becuse it's fast. Ask dminor, he'll tell ya.

That would work to get you into some riding. The brakes are not top shelf but if you decided to stay with it an upgrade to Avid would not be too much. How about sizing, would you ride the 15.5 or th3 17.5?

Not that bike, but some like it, Trek, Giant, K2. Bikes in that price range are similar. If it feels good to you ride the heck out of it! Also Junkyard swears that green get's the girls!
