Congrats, Mark. It will be fun racing with you. hopefully I can make it to the end of the race to help you and the team out.

btw, feel free to add an optional rest/refuel stop at the corner of Foothill and Oro Vista (7-11) as that will be the last chance for water until we get to the Summit at Angeles Crest and Angeles Forest.

I found a file photo of Rasputin... he bears a striking resemblance to someone.

The rain is making me feel a little better about having to skip today's ride due to a cold. In my free time, I updated my club profile... it now includes a pic of me racing 13 years ago!

edit for those who can't see the profile (plus a bonus pic)

Well...I held off as long as I could, but it looks like I'm a no-go for Saturday's ride. I have no transportation to & from :( My car's been in the shop for 2 weeks now...needs a new transmission...and so I have to share the family van with the wife/kids. Ah well...

You all go on without me. Route cue sheets you can get from the bikely site.

urbanknight
12-19-07, 10:29 PM
Hmmm, it's too bad nobody's in that area to pick you up. Well, I'll still be there, and I'll have extra cue sheets printed up (from mapmyride) if anyone needs. My wife is taking vacation next week, so I'm not sure how much you'll see of me. I'll still be riding, but it may have to go by her schedule and not the team's.

If anyone wants a moderate climbing ride tomorrow, I'll be doing 30-40 mid morning. Also some fast paced riding around the Rose Bowl Friday, maybe with Jeff if he can make it.

Darn! I'm still getting rid of a cold so if it's wet I won't go. It looks safe so far, but I'll have to make short loops so I can bail out if it gets wet. Ah well. Maybe the weather will be better the next two weeks when Mark is off work too.

Hey guys,

I won't be making it out for this week's ride. I probably won't meet up for many rides that aren't on the west side. If I had more time, I'd love to. For now, anything longer than a 10 minute drive away just isn't worth it to me, lol. I'll be doing my regular ride Sat. morning probably, Brentwood to Redondo and back.

Good luck, I'll catch you guys next time.

Hey, Ryan--Are you a definite for the team? I was just updating the roster last night and wondered.

Keep going into PV. I'll be spinning up some hills, er, bumps on Saturday. Let me convince you to join the forces of good.

Well, I'd like to be, I enjoyed riding with you guys last week. My commitment will be very limited though. I generally only have 3-4 hours a week to commit to training or racing.

Just keep me on the email list and I'll see what happens in the next month or so with my schedule.

I just realized you're in Torrance which is exactly where I'll be tomorrow afternoon. I'm sending you a PM with the details so I can bring the wheels if you want.

I might not be riding tomorrow either, as this cold hit me worse today than it did earlier this week. We'll see how I feel when I wake up.

Just curious as to how many people made it and what they thought of the route. I really wish I could have done it, but I'm more stuffy now than I was earlier this week. It's driving me crazy, that Queen song is taunting me in my head!!!

I had to bail, as well. My (mild) sinus/throat thing moved into my chest, so I didn't want to risk holding up the group if I was dragging. Mary's route was out-and-back, so I knew I'd be able to turn back whenever I needed to. I'm off to AZ for a few days, then Mt Wilson on Jan 1. After that, hopefully more LF rides.

I can't imagine you slowing down any climbing ride unless you're losing your lunch while riding or falling over from dizzyness. :D

Over the past couple of days, I have started an online forum for our team where we can post news & information, find out up-to-date items of interest to all of us. We can post route slips, training rides, photos of races or other events, and keep each other up-to-speed with our concerns and ideas, and not bog down BF.net.

Jeff (4/5 Captain) & I would really like to utilize a single resource for team/group communication. This particular forum allows:

Our messages stay online where we can see them any time and we don't accidentally erase them
After we've subscribed to a topic, we'll receive an e-mail if there are any replies
There is a calendar function where we can post upcoming events/meetings, etc...
We can all provide input on a particular topic (like deciding which races to target) so we don't have to meet in person--especially cumbersome as we all live so wide apart.

Currently, communicating is a bit cumbersome as there are 3 avenues necessary to ensure everyone receives notices. This should consolidate them all into one and make life easier for all of us.

PLEASE VISIT & REGISTER
Visit this website:

http://www.setbb.com/liquidcycling45/

and register. If you don't register, you can still see all the messages, but you won't be able to post any messages of your own. When you're done, bookmark it in your browser and you're all set.

Thanks. See you all Jan 5.

Great, another forum. My wife will be thrilled :D Anyway, I'm registered. Any idea on the key events for the 4/5 team? My votes include Boulevard RR, Roger Millikan Crit, San Dimas Stage Race, Devil's Punchbowl RR, and Chuck Pontius Crit, but I'd like to know what the captains have in mind.

This topic is the main discussion at the team meeting. But, I thought, "Why not get started now?" so I started a thread (http://www.setbb.com/liquidcycling45/viewtopic.php?t=14&mforum=liquidcycling45) on this.

Rpm?

urbanknight
01-11-08, 02:12 PM
That's the company that made the bottom bracket. I believe they are now FSA and the remaining RPM BBs are being sold under the Nashbar name. It lasted about 1.5 years, but at $20 I can't really complain.

I signed up. It's free so why not? If I decide to give racing a shot next year, I'll list them as my team if they're on the USCF list and I have teammates in the same category. Anybody going to be a 5 or 4 next year?

I still would say they seem racer minded. Even when I raced for a somewhat well known grassroots team, they had more recreational riders as racers. Somewhere around 100 racers in almost every category, but a member list over 200 people strong!

Which part of the signing up is "free"? The bulletin board or the team? The website says it's $50.00.

mkadam68
01-11-08, 10:28 PM
Signing up was free last year when the thread started. Sorry. :o

Our message board is still free to sign-up, however. :D

This was a lot of fun, and even somewhat productive. :) Good to meet a few new members, and see everyone again. Looking forward to the season.

(Apparently there was some other BF ride today... anyone know anything about it? :p )
