In Los Penasquitos Canyon Preserve, everyone seems to know about going up powerline, turning left, going down "the poops" (haha, the filter foils me again!) and continuing along this area. What if one turns right at the top of the powerline climb instead? Anybody explore this area?

There is some interesting riding to be had if you do hang a right at the top of the powerline road. I'm unsure as to how legal it is at this point in time, but it's my understanding that efforts are being made to have parts of the trails in that area added to the park. In my opinion, while the riding to the right is pretty interesting, it lacks any real flow and 9 time out of 10 I still turn left.
Mark.

Legality is another thing I was curious about. I poked around a bit and there seems to be some singletrack that shoots off the access roads, but they don't really look like "official" trails. Some of the entrances are obscure, so I don't really know if they go anywhere.

IMO, the most fun part of PQ Canyon is off to the right

So should I just take some of the random, possibly not legal singletrack I see off to the right and see where it goes?

all singles lead to a fireroad on the other side, each fire road runs into another so you can't really get lost, confused YES, lost no.
