Well, after much thought, I pulled the trigger on a single speed today. I wasn't even shopping for one, but I kept seeing this sweet machine @ my LBS - it was eating away @ me! So today, I finally broke down and plunked down the cash for a Bianchi SISS. I also did my first ride today. All I can say is that if this machine is 1/10 as much fun in the dirt as it is on "urban assault rides", the smile may never leave my face!!!!

I know that all of you single-speed guys have already seen the SISS way too many times, but I will be back with a pic of my steed in a day or two!

I think I'm hooked. :D

I like the SISS too. I am more of a road person, so I have always been wondering, with such low gearing is the bike actually practical for transportation, or is it more of go to a spot and then just fool around on it..?? (Sorry, I'm clueless..)

personally, i think the standard SS MTB ratio (2:1) sucks for commuting. its way too low to maintain a high speed, no matter how smooth your spin is! i do occasionally take it out on the street, but its a lot more fun in the dirty dirty mud. for commuting i use a 74" gear on my fixed.....perfect cruising speed!

I got the steel. I'm going to try and snap a pic tonight. The only change I've made thus far is replacing the pedals with a pair of Time ATACs. I'm loving it so far. I can't wait to get home and go for a ride!!!! :D

Yeah, I didn't really notice this on the bike, but I noticed it in the pic also! I'm new to the s/s world, so I guess I'll try and tighten up the chain tonight.

I read a post today about how one person was able to tighten his chain by spinning the tire while adjusting. Does anyone have any more tips for me regarding how to tighten the chain and keep everything in its proper adjustment???

ThanX!!!!

Everything (with the exception of the Time ATAC pedals) shown came on the bike new from my LBS. I think that they all are decals, but I'm not 100% sure.

Other Bianchi SS models have sported this before. I think Sky Yeager and Hurl/CRC Crew are buds...

Yep, Sky and Hurl, good buds!

Yep, chain too slack. Loosen up the nuts, tighten down the smaller bolts on your chain tensioner (at the rear), tighten up the nuts.

Nice scoot. How much did you pay?

ThanX for the feedback on the chain. I got a really fantastic deal @ $675 including tax! I simply could not pass it up @ that price! :)
