I have found that stabilized rice bran (SRB) has helped me recover from hard riding. Weight lifters are also reporting increases in muscle mass from using this stuff.
It also helps out the colon, a lot. My wife has hemorrhoids, 'nuff said.
It is also helping me lose weight (so far). It has a glycemic index of 19. I like to take it at breakfast to stay even keel most of the day.
It's all over the internet. Here is an example. http://www.betterhealthnaturally.net...rice_bran.html
The cheapest place to purchase it that I have found is here: http://www.bobsredmill.com/catalog/i...product_ID=329
I just received my second order. I'm so sold on this stuff that I ordered probably over a year's supply for both of us. Shipping for one case was $10 (first order) and shipping for four cases was also $10.
I mix it with soy milk in the morning, sometimes in lieu of breakfast, other times with breakfast.
Here is the company that makes it. http://www.nutracea.com/a_about.php
Here's their spin on why it works. http://www.nutracea.com/e_nutrition.php
If you search the Internet you will see it is being used for treating high cholestral, diabetes, arthritis and other problems. There is even a major hospital in Israel that conducting a blind study to see if the stuff is helping in treating HIV victims. It has become pretty much a staple in the equine industry and some dog foods now have it.
The company making SRB has several patents from fractions of SRB which are being promoted as nutriceuticals. The FDA has approved some of these claims.
You WILL be seeing more of this.
All FWIW.
