General Cycling Discussion - When Brooks go bad

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Has anyone else ever suffered a Brooks going bad, for no apparent reason. I used to cycle all day in reasonable comfort, but suddenly, it started to bite me in gonads. I developed a couple of nasty infected folicles which have taken weeks to clear up properly (with help from my doc).
I tried tensioning the saddle with just one turn of the spanner, but that doesnt seem to help much.
Ive reverted to an old plastic shell saddle for now, but would like to get my Brooks back in shape.
This did happen to me once with some leather hiking boots. is it just the cow getting revenge?
That would make a great title for a film.
I can just imagine the voiceover
"It was a saddle on the edge - with nothing left to lose. He was a cyclist with tender gonads. When they met, the consequences were terrifying"
No idea, but couldn't resist-
"When Good Saddles Go Bad.... the Story of the Brook Saddle- The Gonad Attacking Seat From Hell".
Next reality show on E! Entertainment Television for the REAL intellectuals...

More reality shows? Oh come on...
Michael,
Is the seat (leather) sagging? I can't imagine what would
cause the saddle to go south all of a sudden.
New shorts?
change in saddle position?
whenever something like this happens to me (not sore
nads or anything) I always have to ask What changed?
You could send e-mail to Bill at Wallingford bikes he
seems to be the Brooks expert to end all.
