So the specs on this bike look pretty sweet:

Specifications:
Shimano XTR 27 Speed, SuperLite 4bar Double-butted 7005SL Aluminum frame, RockShox SID Race Fork 80mm, SID XC 4" Travel RR, Avid SD7 Brakes/Levers, M-Wings Team Issue Wheelset (Alex XT16 Double Wall Rims / Machined Sidewalls, Stainless Double Butted Spokes 32fr/32r), FSA Carbon Cranks/Splined BB, M-Wings Team Issue 6061 Aluminum 160g Bar, 147g Stem and Team-Issue Seatpost, PanaRacer TrailBlaster 2.0/1.8 Kevlar Tires. 23.25 Pounds.

Only problem is they don't have a dealer in Southern California. This bike seems like it has great value, I just want to get the right fit. Does anyone own one of these in SoCal or does anyone know of a bike where the sizes fit similarly to this one?

I believe there there are NO walk-in dealers and Motobecane is on-line only. I could be mistaken.......

Mountain bikes have a more forgiving range of fit than road bikes, so you should be able to get pretty close with info like height and inseam measurements. Bikesdirerct sells the Motobecane online and can help with the fit.

I have no knowledge of the current Motobecane offerings, and have neither seen them or heard anyone who has one. I would proceed with a grain of caution, especially because of the dealer thing.

You believe wrong. Mike from Bikes Direct owns several "walk-in" stores, Cycle Spectrum and something else. I believe these are mostly in the south, Texas through Florida but he posts on here and can tell you more himself.

As for the OP's original question, I do not know a similar sized bike but if you're really interested, you can compare geometries to narrow it down. Most people will say the top tube length is the most important measurement, so you might want to focus on that measurement.

I contacted the company and yes there are walk-in stores, (FL, AZ, CO), but they are all sold out of this model until December. In the mean time I'm looking at Transition. What do people think? Anything that's better value?
