Hi,

I'd like to build up a dedicated tourer/commuter and thin the herd that's now in the garage. I'm a larger cyclist, 6-4, 205 lbs., and I take a 63 cm frame, which Jackson offers. I've heard there were QC problems with twisted frames some time ago. Any more recent experience? Anything else I should consider? The Jacksons, even with our rotten exhange rate (thanks, George!) are still coming in waaay below Waterford and the other stateside builders I was considering.

Cheers!

From what I have heard, Bob Jackson long ago resolved any quality issues they had. The company had been sold to someone who let quality slide, but the original owners bought it back and restored the quality.

Personally I think the BJ offers the best value right now for quality touring frames. If I was buying a tourer right now, it would be a Jackson. Where else can you buy a full custom frame and fork for $900? They also are very nice looking frames with a range of design and color options. Go for it!
