Mountain Biking - Having Second Thoughts

Hey, I started a build, only have a couple odd parts, and I'm starting to have second thoughts. I'm thinking I should just buy a new bike and change a part here and there. I have 2 bikes in mind, the most expensive is atleast $200 dollars below my estimated build cost. here they are, please help me out.

Building a bike isn't always about saving money. If you are trying to save money you should buy used parts and not worry about looks.

If you do buy a bike look at other brands. Don't worry, you can change your BF screen name too.

its not 100% about the money, but more or less the hassle of of buying all the parts. I'm also not overly worried about the looks either. I have looked at other brands, especially Kona and Specialized. theres atleast 4 local riders riding a P. bike, so I'd like to avoid buying the same bike as everyone else. I'm open to suggestions too, but I'd also like some commentary on these 2 bikes. and dont worry, I know how to change my BF username... i think

expensive and heavy(around 36lbs).

thanks for the help! I've looked at the Kona's you mentioned, pretty shweet. I somehow totally forgot about Cannondale, I'll be right back...

...and I really hate the new colours:( last year I loved the white and green, but this year's black and red isnt doing it for me. except the frame only, o well, we're not talking build here.


Build a singlespeed. You'll save a few bucks on the rear hub, cassette, chainguide, derailleur, shifters, etc.

but you see, I like to smash my deraileurs (actually, I like the different gears, but whatever)

Get a Devinci.

my price range for the build? $2000-$2500, but thats on no steady income, and basically when i have the money, buy something.

to make a full bike worth the money, I'd like it to stay under $2000, since I could build for that much. I'll considerer Kona as an option, and i do like the style of Devinci, especially the hucker.

my LBS says theyll be getting the 4 hun and 125 in around febuary, thats gives me plenty of time to make a final decision., and i have about $500 right now, so through shoveling snow and christmas, I think I'll have enough $$

well, im not buying any more parts for the build now, since Im 95% sure im going to buy the 4hun. first ive got to make sure its the right size and all, but since its not all about sitting on the bike and ill be throwing it around more, ill probably get the smaller one. im thinking ill build up the bigfoot as a light freeride bike, with more travel (140mm-ish). so ill keep the couple odd parts i have and just save up to get the 4hun late this winter/early this spring.
