From my club mailing list. If any of you are looking for a nice local ride, come with us!

All of you two-wheeled over-achievers are cordially invited to truly over-achieve this Saturday on a Special 7am start from Kaiser in Alameda. The ride will begin on a BART ride to the Dublin/Pleasanton station, where we will arrive around 8am-ish. We will then go north through Dublin and Blackhawk and tackle lower Diablo once again on our way to Clayton, where we will meet Mark's medium group.

We will climb Morgan Territory together, regrouping at the top. Then the descent into Livermore, where I will take the group on a tour through downtown and the vineyards of this rich (no pun intended) countryside. The ride will end back at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART, for a total of at least 70 miles.

Remember, the long ride starts at 7am, and the medium shorter option (around 45 miles-ish) starts at 8am. If you cannot make the 7am start, but still wish to join in on the fun through Blackhawk and Diablo, feel free to drive to the Dublin BART station--we won't tell anyone ;)

See you on Saturday!

I'll be wearing my NorCal jersey. See you at Pleasanton BART @ 8am.

I've always wanted to do this ride, but have never been able to talk someone into going with me. Question though - how much of a hammerfest will it be? I'm not too speedy, and don't want to hang anyone up....

It's a scenic hammerfest. ;)

Alan: how about a preview??

We have to get to Clayton to meet the other group within 1.5 hrs. After that it'll be a stroll in the park because we'll be picking up slower people.

This is a great ride and one of my long training rides. I start in Antioch and do Morgan Territory first and then Diablo, returning to Antioch by staying on Marsh Creek. Have a blast! If you have never done Morgan Territory, it's a fun climb, but the pavement is REALLY bad.

1.5 hours to ride from Dublin BART, over the Diablo saddle, and into Clayton? Putting aside altiitude gain for a moment, how many miles is that? From my house in San Ramon, it's gotta be at least 20+ or so.

You guys can scoot that fast up and over?

John,
Nice route. If that's the rider we talked about a few weeks ago, I'm in when you want to do it again.

I ran it over, and it split in two. In the process, it cut into my tyre, pinch flatting it. :o
